This year's GuelphFest celebrated Guelph's 176th anniversary. I was there with the GHRA and our caboose and baggage car. Unfortunately we got rained out this year.

Laura and I stayed in the GHRA caboose posting security while it was parked down town.

Laura and I had posted security in the GHRA caboose through the night. In the morning we watched OSR move the van back to its home base at Crompton Uniroyal.

We brought one of our housemates to the Hamilton airport and stopped for a few minutes of railfanning on the way back.

(map) This is where the CN Oakville, CN Grimsby, and CN Dundas subdivisions meet at a great big wye, beside which is the CP Hamilton sub. This location encompasses CN Bayview Junction, Hamilton West, and Hamilton Junction.

Laura had a 10:17 am train from Aldershot, so we spent the day after that railfanning. It was made more interesting by a derailment near Ingersoll on the CN Dundas sub.

(map) Georgetown's CN Silver is the site of the junction between CN's Halton sub and the CN-owned, GEXR-rented Guelph sub. It is between Guelph and Brampton on highway 7.
Scotch Block, Ontario
(map) Scotch Block is an excellent photography location at mp 30.0 CN Halton sub, between Milton and Georgetown.
Burlington, Ontario
(map) The city of Burlington has a population of about 150,000 people and is just to the East of Hamilton. It is also home to Burlington West and Aldershot.

I decided to spend a full work-day at Guelph Junction working on my laptop with GPRS and watching whatever came through.

(map) Technically Campbellville, Guelph Junction is the junction of the Guelph Junction Railway -- currently serviced by OSR -- the CP Hamilton sub, and the CP Galt sub. It is between Milton and Galt on the CP Galt sub.

Babcock and Wilcox sent a 500 tonne generator up the GEXR Fergus sub. Steve found it wyeing at the seldom-used Fergus sub wye in Guelph on GEXR 432, en route to Toronto Mac Yard, and let me know. The two of us chased it, leap-frogging eachother along highway 7.

GEXR 432 usually runs light on Sundays. This time it had a 500 tonne generator from BAWX in Cambridge. 432 is seen here crossing Wellington Road 29, just East of Guelph, with several dimensional spacers and the generator.
